BLOSSOM

Blossom is an American sitcom broadcast on NBC from January 3, 1991 to May 22, 1995. The series stars Mayim Bialik as Blossom Russo, a teenage girl living with her father and two brothers.

The series began with Blossom’s mother having left the family to pursue her own life and career, the show concentrated on the family’s attempts to adjust.

Blossom’s father, Nick a session musician who was frequently between gigs and tours, was played by Ted Wass.

Her oldest brother Anthony (Michael Stoyanov) is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict who eventually became a paramedic.

Joey (Joey Lawrence), the other brother is a fairly stereotypical “dumb jock” known for the drawn-out delivery of his catchphrase, “Whoa!

Blossom’s best friend Six LeMeure (Jenna von Oÿ) also plays a significant part in her life. Six, an especially fast talker, was best known for her tendency to ramble.

If you wanna see Mayim Bialik all grown up and not wearing those ridiculous girlfriend hats check out “The Big Bang Theory.”

DANGEROUS MINDS

This movie makes me feel so bad ass everytime I watch it…

Dangerous Minds (1995) is an American drama film based on the autobiography My Posse Don’t Do Homework by former U.S. Marine, LouAnne Johnson who took up a teaching position at Carlmont Highschool in Belmont, California where most of her students were African-American and Hispanic teens from East Palo Alto, a then-unincorporated town at the opposite end of the school district.

The film, starring Michelle Pfeiffer was released to mixed critical reception, but became a surprise box office success in the summer of 1995.

Louanne Johnson is an ex-marine, hired as a teacher in a high-school in a poor area of the city. She has recently separated from her husband. Her friend, also teacher in the school, got the temporary job for her. After a terrible reception from the students, she tries unconventional methods of teaching (using karate, Bob Dylan lyrics etc) to gain the trust of the students.

The soundtrack and its lead single “Gangsta’s Paradise” enjoyed major success and received nominations for the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.

Coolio won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance for his vocals.

At the MTV Movie Awards 1996Dangerous Minds was nominated in four categories: Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Pfeiffer), Most Desirable Female (Pfeiffer) and Best Movie Song (Coolio).

This will forever be a legendary film. With the risk of sounding corny Dangerous Minds was inspiring and convinced me to try harder at school.

I even bought the 1996 Grammy CD just for Gangsta’s Paradise.

LOLO BALL

The thing that looked like Saturn.

A Lolo Ball also known as a Pogo Ball, Springbal, Lolobal, Disc-O or Pogobal is a children’s toy. It consists of a seamless figure-8 rubber ball locked into a structurally supported, sturdy plastic platform.

To play with it, one stands on the plastic platform, balancing one’s weight on the bottom portion of the rubber ball and jumps or hops around in the same manner as one would use a pogo stick.

Invented by a small company in 1985, the Lolo Ball became a fad in the mid 1980s when Hasbro mass-produced it. Hasbro produced the toy until the early 1990s, and the Lolo Ball can still be purchased (made by other manufacturers) today.

I liked the simplicity of the Lolo Ball but the novelty of bouncing around on it wore off pretty quickly.

DOC MARTENS

Combat boots withs swag.

Dr. Martens is a traditional British footwear brand which also makes a range of accessories – shoe care products, clothing, luggage, etc.

In addition to Dr. Martens, they are known as Doctor Martens, Doc Martens, Docs or DMs.

The footwear is distinct because of its unique air-cushioned sole (dubbed Bouncing Soles), upper shape, welted construction and yellow stitching.

They are one of the most popular and well-known footwear brands in the world, and are iconic to the fashion industry.

Skinheads started wearing them and by the late 1980s and by the early 1990s they were popular among punks, some New Wave musicians and members of other youth subcultures.

NOW AND THEN

Such a cute film x

Now and Then is a 1995 film starring Christina Ricci, Rosie O’Donnell, Thora Birch, Melanie Griffith, Gaby Hoffman, Demi Moore, Ahsleigh Aston Moore and Rita Wilson.

It has been referred to as a female version of the 1986 film, “Stand By Me.”

Four childhood friends gather together to prepare for the birth of Chrissey’s baby. While together, they reminisce about when they were kids in 1970.

The film was released on October 20, 1995 and was a commercial success.

Teen girls wanted to see this for one thing. To sneak a peak at Devon Sawa’s ass.

BIKE SHORTS

If you don’t mind having a camel toe 24/7 then this one’s for you.

Bike Shorts are skin-tight legwear designed to improve comfort and efficiency while cycling however the casual sports garment transitioned into mainstream fashion in the 90s.

The short-legged elastic tights commonly worn as street wear, under school uniform skirts or for gymnastics and ballet practice were comfortable and came in loud and obnoxious colours and patterns.

Haha I had all types of designs and it was great cos all you needed was a baggy fluro tee to wear as top.

CHIP N DALE RESCUE RANGERS

An after school cartoon favorite.

Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers is an animated TV series produced by Walt Disney. Created by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove, it featured the established Disney characters Chip n Dale in a new setting.

In the fall of 1989, the series was syndicated from September 18. In 1990, as a part of the Disney Afternoon line up, reruns of the show were aired until September 3, 1993.

Chip and Dale, two chipmunks with a nose for trouble, start a detective agency (Rescue Rangers) along with their new friends Gadget, Monterey Jack and Zipper.

The pint-sized detectives deal with crimes that are often “too small” for the police to handle, usually with other animals as their clients.

The gang frequently finds itself going up against two particular archvillains: Mafia-style tabby cat Fat Cat and mad scientist Norton Nimnul.
